Is your Business being found?

Is your Business being found ? Or another question is Is your Website being found ? Are you attracting all your potential customers ?
During the course of our work we do occassionally approach businesses to ask if we can offer any assistance with a Website or any of the other services we provide. On many occassions we get told that as they are on a main road, or a shopping centre, potential customers can see them when they drive or walk past, so they don't need a website. Our usual response is that are they the right customers ? Are they attracting people that want to use their services, eat in their Restaurant, have their nails or hair done, and so the list goes on.
These days we all have to attract customers from further afield, and offer something that would make them want to use us or buy our products. More and more this means using the Internet to its full potential. Unfortunately there are still many that do not see this as working for them and rely totally on passing trade. These are quite often ones that struggle. We try to explain that the Internet is such a big part of people's lives now that it would be wise to use it to up their profile, and even if they do not choose us, to seriously consider having some sort of web presence and use social media to its full advantage.
The other conversation we often have is "we have a website, so if people want to find us they can type in our name and our website will come up"  This can be quite frustrating at times as we again try and explain that they need to be attracting more customers that do not know they exist, so need to be found under search terms that people are likely to type in the search engine to see what is around. So, for example if you were looking for a place to eat, you may type in Chinese Restaurants in Bournemouth, and find out what Restaurants there are and make your choice based on that. It is quite incredible how many still do not see the potential in this, and as such, them and their website goes unnoticed.
It is also very important to make all your advertising consistent, with all details showing on any printed materials, but thats another topic to discuss.
So, next time you are online, do an Internet search to see if your Business can be found easily under the search terms that people are most likely to use. Think of what you would type in to try and find your service/shop or product. If you are not found very easily then its time to take a look at the reasons why !

If you are using Pay Per Click because you are not being found, its time again to find out why. Your website maybe found whilst using Pay Per Click, but once you stop, if the SEO (search engine optimisation) is not working for you, its time again to investigate why !

Press Release Webtek Design

We, at Webtek design are proud to announce that we are sponsors of the ISCE (International Scott Centenary Expedition).
The Expedition is to take place in January 2012, and is an exciting event keeping alive part of our history, and the memory of early Polar Explorers who inspired the lives of many.
The purpose of the Expedition is to undertake a national education programme and an international media outreach campaign which will advance the education of the public about the environment and the role Captain Scott's expedition played in advancing polar research. More information can be found on http://www.isce2012.co.uk/
We feel that this a valuable event to sponsor as it can inspire children to acheive their ambitions in the future, children are our future explorers, scientists and business people. Of course there is the valuable marketing that we receive at the same time which is an opportunity not to be missed. Along with all this is the value we place on our clients receiving maximum exposure for their businesses. This is what we are about, acheiving the best we can for our clients.
When a client commissions us to design and build their website we will make sure that we promote their business at every opportunity, including sending a news item to the ISCE to say who has supported them by using us as their web design company. We also plan to send all this to the local paper for their area and anyone else we can think of. We are constantly working on how small businesses can get noticed. This is especially important in the current climate where small businesses appear not to be getting much help from anywhere.
Where ever a business is in the country we can help. There are areas we know better than others, but we always do our research. The team have quite an extensive knowledge of certain areas of business, including but not limited to Aviation, Angling, Wedding, Landscaping. Retail, Wholesale etc. What we don't know we take the time to find out, and always listen to our clients.
If you are a small business and in need of a website and extra promotion and marketing then contact us to discuss your requirements. We offer sensible, affordable packages, and are always willing to go the extra mile.

Marketing Businesses using a Website

Mike Batson owner of Webtek Design explains why a good website is a valuable component in a businesses success.
Its almost impossible to overestimate the importance of the World Wide Web in marketing services & products to consumers. The web is referred to for all kinds of information; according to Industry research 70 per cent of people would go online to gather information on products & services, rather than looking in the yellow pages or the local newspaper. This is why Webtek design is stressing the importance of a website in business however small the business is.
Talking to a local business owner a few days ago who has been established for 10 years, they were saying that after all that time they still have people go into their retail shop saying they had lived in the area all their life, but did not know they were there, until they had seen their website on the internet!
Mike has been visiting a lot of businesses lately and has been somewhat dismayed at some of the attitudes of business owners over the importance of having a website. The owners have been complaining of not having enough business despite having a large footfall where they are based. Their attitude has been that they do not need a website and are reluctant to pay for one, but they desperately need more business. They willingly pay for adverts to be printed and posted on their shop windows, but this does not necessarily gain more new customers, as the ones seeing it may already be existing customers!
Trying to explain that its those that don't realise they are there, is vital to gaining more business can be quite difficult even though they admit themselves that they use the internet to find out information. Its letting them know that's what other people are doing that is the key!
Mike has also come across businesses that are even ignoring off line marketing, in that they do not advertise their website on other marketing material ie flyers.
A website that is linked in all the right areas such as appropriate directories, and other links, will work well for any business, and its also amazing how many people in business do not realise the importance of this. Its no good having a website and doing nothing with it. People need to know its there, and be able to find it.
Once people find a website its also important that it is user friendly, easy to navigate, pleasing and calming to the eye, and fresh, with up to date news, opening times and pricing. Mike has lost count of the number of businesses who do not have their website updated regularly, and do not realise the value of paying for hosting where all this can be done for them at a good price to keep their business alive!
